I woke up this morning thinking about human obsession with forces of bad and good. Books, fairy tales, Star Wars series, religion… In them all you’ll find people that have been labeled as protagonists or antagonists. Take politics, for example. There’s always position and opposition.
You would think that opposing forces bring stability to this world and that this is necessary for a better tomorrow, but you’d be wrong. Even something crazy as christianity propagates better than this. (more…)
A bunch of people discussing religion, their “faith” or God are no different than nine year old boys discussing female genitals. They either have no idea what they’re talking about, are making things up or they base their “facts” on something they heard from another boy who has no idea what he’s talking about, makes things up or bases his “facts” on… oh well, you get the point.
So, why is it not OK to treat religious adults spreading their “faith” like annoying, little assholes?

You may, or may not know, but Mount Athos is among the holiest places for Orthodox Christians. I’m not really sure where the prefix “orthodox” comes from, but I’m sure it’s got something to do with nutjobs arguing about whose idea of religion is more original. Anyway, there are about 20 churches there and they are all very old and sacred and holy and, well you get the point… all those words that really tell you nothing about anything. (more…)

I’ve never been too much of a traditionalist. Honoring something that has contributed to how you live your life today is one thing, living in the past, not wanting to move on, when there is no reason to act like that is completely different. Not even talking about religion here, well, not yet. I even have this theory that in Ancient Greece, if they had HD cameras and TV sets back then, we probably wouldn’t know about Greek theater today. Unless you live in Serbia you probably never heard of Mr. Marko Radosavljevic, a.k.a. Bishop — or Monk, depending on who you’re asking — Artemije. Devoted his life to spreading irrationalism, spent most it in monasteries, away from regular folks, he even has a PhD, I guess in “God science” since his dissertation was titled “Secret of Salvation according to Maxim the Confessionist” (it’s so nice they let people get their PhD’s discussing fairy tales nowadays).
